Hello! We’re Glory and Sam, and we’re excited to share a bit about our journey with you. We’re a family of four with two wonderful children.
Sam has dedicated over a decade of his life working as an Orderly at Middlemore Hospital. His commitment and care have made a significant impact on our community. On the other hand, I am a passionate educator and in a position that allows me to nurture young minds and contribute to their growth.
From 2007 to 2019, I was deeply involved in volunteer work with Youth with a Mission. In 2020, I transitioned to a casual job and by 2021, I was fortunate to secure a permanent position in Early Childhood Education. This role has not only been fulfilling but has also allowed me to start contributing to a retirement scheme.
In April 2021, we embarked on an exciting journey towards homeownership. After reaching out to the Housing Foundation, we were provided with a clear financial goal and advised to work with a budgeting advisor. This guidance set the foundation for our path to owning a home.
Over the past three years, we’ve worked closely with our budgeting advisor to turn our dream into a reality. We took significant steps to improve our financial situation, including increasing our Kiwisaver contributions and reducing our debt. Our dedicated efforts also allowed us to start saving for a deposit, bringing us closer to our goal.
In April 2024, we reached a major milestone – receiving pre–approval from the bank and signing necessary agreements with Housing Foundation. It was an incredible moment for us, as we officially became homeowners in Mangere. The new house is more spacious, conveniently located near my son’s school and closer to both our workplaces.
We are proud and thrilled to have achieved our goal of homeownership. It has been a journey filled with dedication and perserverance, and we are grateful for the support we received from Housing Foundation through the process.
We feel incredibly blessed to have a home of our own and are deeply thankful for everyone who helped us along the way. This new chapter in Mangere is a testament to hard work and the power of believing in our dreams.
Thank you, Housing Foundation!
Glory and Sam
