Hosea Family

Kia Orana,

We are the Hosea family, and we’re excited to share our heartwarming journey to homeownership through the Housing Foundation programmes.

We moved to New Zealand in 2003 and began our journey as renters from the very start.  Although owning a home was always a dream for us, we often dismissed the idea due to our financial situation, including debt and a lack of savings.  The thought of having a deposit for a house seemed far out of reach.

In 2014, our friends told us about an open night at Weymouth Intermediate, where a new home build project was being discussed.  The event focussed on helping low-income families achieve homeownership, and we were intrigued by the no-strings-attached presentation.  It was a glimmer of hope that motivated us to take action.

That evening, we went home and completed the online preliminary assessment, feeling a renewed sense of hope.

We are incredibly grateful to share that we have transitioned to almost 100% home ownership and are on track to achieve full ownership within the next 1-2 years.  It has been a transformative experience for our family, allowing us to finally set down roots and build a future in our own home.

We want to extend our deepest thanks to the Housing Foundation for making this dream a reality.  Their support has been instrumental in helping us achieve homeownership, and we view this as a prayer answered!
